Purpose:
To coordinate MESA’s prevention education and awareness-raising efforts
Job Summary:
This position is responsible for the development and implementation of MESA’s comprehensive social marketing strategy.
Essential Functions:
- Develop and implement community- based programs for the primary prevention of sexual violence
- Develop and implement prevention education presentations, workshops and trainings on the topics of sexual assault, sexual harassment, gender oppression, healthy relationships and related issues
- Conduct outreach with organizations, community groups and other agencies to provide education on the topics of sexual violence, oppression and their prevention
- Develop and implement relevant curricula, training materials, and presentation evaluation tools
- Collaborate with Client Services team to develop and update volunteer training materials, manuals, handouts and brochures
- Assist in organizing and facilitating volunteer trainings
- Participate in relevant community and networking meetings
- Negotiate all payments for professional trainings, including trade agreements
- Represent MESA at the Elder Justice Coalition, Trans* Survivor Task Force, and Boulder County Trans* Health initiatives and participate in activities as required
- Act as a key representative for MESA with the Office of Violence Against Women (OVW) Disabilities grant initiative and participate in activities as requested by the grant administrator
- Understand and comply with mandatory reporting protocols for youth who disclose experiences of sexual violence
- Create and coordinate community events for raising awareness during Sexual Assault Awareness Month (April)
- Building and executing social media strategy around MESA’s mission
- Develop and implement a model for sexual assault prevention/education utilizing social marketing techniques
- Produce online educational content relative to MESA’s mission such as webinars, memos, videos
- Generate and share social media content daily that builds meaningful connections between MESA and the community at large
- Continuously stay abreast of all developments, narratives, and initiatives relevant to MESA’s mission
- Promote and participate in MESA fundraising efforts and events
- Solicit in-kind donations from local media/marketing outlets
- Assist in the planning and coordination of messaging and events for Sexual Assault Awareness Month (April).
- Update and maintain MESA website
- Provide presentations and trainings related to raising awareness about sexual assault and reducing its prevalence
- Use social media platforms and web-based technology to provide sexual assault prevention education
- Maintain an active MESA social media identity
- Other duties, as assigned.
Skills & Requirements
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communication, Social Work, Education, or related field preferred.
- Public speaking, training, or teaching experience required
- Experience in social media marketing or as a digital media specialist preferred
- Experience utilizing traditional and new media for public service messaging
- Experience working within collaborations and building community partnerships desirable
- Experience and knowledge in sexual assault issues preferred
- Excellent presentation/training skills required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Must have understanding of issues and dynamics of sexual assault, sexual harassment, dating violence and other forms of interpersonal violence
- Knowledge of community resources desirable
- Demonstrable social networking experience and social analytics tools knowledge
- Adequate knowledge of web design, web development, conversion rate optimization and search engine optimization
- Excellent consulting, writing, editing (photo/video/text), presentation and communication skills
- Strong project management skills
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting
- Must be competent in working with people of diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds
- Bilingual Spanish speaking preferred
Working Environment:
- May require some travel throughout Boulder and Broomfield Counties
- May include some exposure to people in acute distress or crisis
- Occasional nights and weekends.
