Month of April | Youth Art Contest

MESA presents the first annual Youth Art Contest, open to all middle and high school students in Boulder County. The Art Contest intends to inspire and empower youth to promote a culture based on consent, safety, and respect. A release form is required from every participant.

Submissions may include:

  • Visual art, including photography, on an 12×18 surface or smaller.
  • Written art up to 1500 words, including poems, short stories, and song lyrics.
  • Songs and videos up to 3 minutes in MP3 format.
  • Social media campaign portfolio, up to 5 graphics.

Month of April | Book display at The Read Queen, Barbed Wire Books, and Boulder Bookstore

Support your local Boulder County bookstores by stopping into The Read Queen in Lafayette, Barbed Wire Books in Longmont, and The Boulder Bookstore to check out Moving to End Sexual Assault’s (MESA) recommended SAAM reading list. Share your book reviews on social media by tagging MESA and your favorite local bookstore.

Thursday, April 1st (12pm-1pm) | SAAM opening event: Meet and Eat

Get your lunch and join us on Zoom to learn about MESA services and all the great events we have planned for Sexual Assault Awareness Month! Participate in MESA Trivia to win prizes, including a mask for Denim Day, a ticket to our trauma-informed yoga class, a ticket for Canine Classic 5k Run/Walk event, and a book from MESA’s recommended SAAM reading list.

Friday, April 2nd | Sex: By Invitation Only podcast episode

In our April episode, podcast hosts Caroline Harris and Lindsey Breslin take a deep dive into the history of SAAM and the court cases that helped shape the global sexual assault movement, including the 1992 Italian case that originated Denim Day.

Friday-Sunday, April 16th – 18th | Canine Classic 5k DIY Run/Walk

Don’t miss this fun event to support MESA in our mission to end sexual violence. Participants can walk or run a 5k any time between April 16th and April 18th. Share pictures using #CanineClassic2021 to be entered to win prizes.

Join us for a COVID-safe, outdoor registration packet pick-up event on Friday April 16th, 3-6pm featuring music, giveaways from our sponsors, and Bone Apetreat, Denver’s first dog treat food truck.

Thursday, April 22nd (5-6:30pm) | Take Back the Night, hosted by Front Range Community College

A protest event with the mission of ending sexual, relational, and domestic violence. Front Range Community College will have live speakers, a live band, and an open mic for survivors to tell their stories. Dr. Janine D’Anniballe, MESA’s Director, will be speaking from 5:15-5:30pm. Feminist Uprising Collective is also hosting a fundraiser for MESA through a feminist t-shirt sale.

Wednesday, April 28th | Denim Day: Care Wear Share

Wear jeans with a purpose, learn about sexual violence and prevention, and support survivors by donating $5 to MESA on Denim Day.

Join us for a night of music, art, food, prizes, and comedy by our host Vinnie Montez!
Event Begins In:
All proceeds go to support our 24-hour hotline, prevention education, support groups and advocacy for survivors of sexual violence.
